Raleigh Coin Club
Newsletter Archives

The Raleigh Coin Club Newsletter was reborn in 1997 replacing a simple reminder (post card or one-sheet announcement) of the upcoming meeting. From that early beginning the Newsletter has soldiered on. It has seen good times and lean times, but has become a staple of the Raleigh Coin Club benefits.

As you browse through the years you will undoubtedly notice some months with no issue. Well this does not mean that no issue came out that month -- although it happens. Since 2003 the Newsletter has mainly been distributed as an electronic file and we may have misplaced the source code -- yes this happens too. For issues before 2002 they were strictly paper copies and also may have been misplaced in our archive. So, bottom line, if you are a long time Raleigh Coin Club member and happen to have a copy we are missing please scan it and share it with the rest of us.

Just click on a year you wish to browse and begin your journey through the past three and a half decades of the Raleigh Coin Club Newsletter. You will find many interesting original articles from Raleigh Coin Club members.

Enjoy!

Raleigh Coin Club Newsletter
Archive Restoration Project

Since 2003 the Raleigh Coin Club Newsletter has mainly been distributed as an electronic PDF file via email. While there were many circumstances where a newsletter really didn't come out there are undoubtedly some that are missing in action. We will continue the search for these.

Issues of the Newsletter prior to 2003 were presented in pure HTML on the old Raleigh Coin Club Website. The good news is that we know there were no missed issues from 1997 through 2002. The bad news is the webmaster required a softcopy of each article in order to convert it to HTML. Many authors never submitted that soft copy thus the article is linked to a page stating "waiting on soft copy." There are many interesting articles that are thus no longer available.

To remedy this situation, your webmaster has embarked on this Archive Restoration Project. I am attempting to locate original mailed copies for each newsletter from which the following will be done (or attempted):

  1. Current articles with valid HTML code will be converted to PDF
  2. Missing issues will be located (hopefully)
  3. Entire issue scanned as a PDF and placed on the site
  4. Entire issue scanned using OCR software in an attempt to make all individual articles available as PDF files.

What I have located in my personal archives:

  • 1997 - all issues (I was the editor way back then)
  • 1998 - all issues (Again, I was editor)
  • 1999 - all issues
  • 2000 - no issues
  • 2001 - August thru December only
  • 2002 - missing December

This project will take time and effort. Thus, in order to get the new look site online these will come later. For now, please pardon our construction mess and the detour.

Any help locating issues, scanning, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Raleigh Coin Club Newsletter
Early Archives Project

This project was initiated by Bob Izydore (longtime member and past Raleigh Coin Club President 1991-1992) who scanned newsletter issues from his two years as president for inclusion on the club website. It was further expanded by digging through boxes and boxes of old club archives and piecing together year sets of newsletter back to 1977! Unfortunately there are missing issues from the physical archive we have pieced together, so if you saved any old newsletters please look through them and see if you have any of the missing ones. To make it easier the list below details what is missing. Note - complete years are not listed.

Missing Issues

  • 1996 - December, November, October, September, August, July, June, May
  • 1994 - July
  • 1993 - November, July
  • 1990 - December, May
  • 1989 - August
  • 1988 - November, January
  • 1987 - December, March
  • 1983 - September
  • 1979 - July
  • 1978 - June
  • 1977 - August

It goes without saying anything prior to 1977 would be welcome.

All newsletters and articles (unless otherwise stated within) are:
